"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
AT&T (T) subsidiary Warner Bros.' "Joker" earned $55M domestically in its sophomore weekend for a 10-day total of $192.7M and a massive global cume of $544M. The pic fell only 43% in North America, one of the lowest drops ever for a superhero or superhero-related movie. Audiences gave "Joker" a B+ CinemaScore, while Rotten Tomatoes rating stands at 69%.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP:
MGM and United Artists Releasing's "The Addams Family" debuted at number 2 with $30.3M. Behind it was Viacom (VIAB) subsidiary Paramount's "Gemini Man," grossing an estimated $20.5M in its debut weekend. DreamWork's "Abominable" placed number four, earning $6.2M for a domestic cume of $46.4M. Rounding out the top five, Focus Features' "Downton Abbey" grossed another $4.9M for a domestic total of $82.7M and $152.2M globally.
